The festival's artistic director, Adrian Jackson, said, "I think this is a really exciting lineup, that no jazz lover would want to miss. Bands like the Geri Allen Trio and the ICP Orchestra are at the highest level internationally -- as are so many of the Australian bands on the program.
"There is a lot of diversity in the program, from the duets -- Morrison and Chindamo, Barlow and Grabowsky, Gould and Lyall, Mengelberg and Dalgleish -- through to the Australian Art Orchestra, or Erroll Buddle playing tenor with Col Nolan on the Hammond organ. There will be gospel, classic jazz, mainstream jazz, free improvisation, latin jazz and fusion.
"On the blues program, I'm especially pleased to be presenting Billy Boy Arnold, who is a link with the golden age of Chicago blues ; with the Australian players backing him, I'm sure he will put on some unforgettable shows."
An annual event since 1990, the TAC Wangaratta Festival Of Jazz is one of Australia's biggest regional events, and has been acclaimed by fans, musicians and critics as Australia's premier jazz festival. It enjoys Tourism Victoria's Hallmark Event status, having won the Victorian Tourism Award for Regional events three times, and the Australian Tourism Award in 1999 for Regional Festivals & Events.
