If someone gave you free tix would you go? I've got stuff he did in the 60s/70s that my parents were in to that I like but hey that was 40 years ago. What's he like today when he's not with the Black eye peas? Advice welcome!

Well glen, what did you think?
That wasn't you who got up in the first set and walked towards the stage to tell them to fix up the sound was it?!?!
Once again the sound in Hamer Hall was crap. Couldn't hear the guitar at all, at least a dozen instances of feedback, bass too loud, bass drum way too loud.
The band was tight as you'd expect from Sergio. I wasn't totally convinced by the hip-hop stuff. Rather contrived (though hilarious seeing the responses from the folk who never got past Brasil '66). I didn't really dig the drummer. He sounded like a middle of the road hip-hop drummer who threw in a few Brazilian beats just because he had to. Also the sound of his toms made me cringe.
And as for audience participation on Mas Que Nada, well it showed how few people actually know the words!
All in all not a bad gig, but the sound stopped me from really enjoying it. I just hope they don't fuck up the sound for all the great gigs there in next years jazz festival.

It wasn't me but hey I thought about it. sound was a shocker , a real disgrace. the night was totally Brazialian ... great, daggy and great again. loved the girls from Abba, but hey they didn't do Fernando! liked he percussionist and the percussion history lesson, could have listened to that all night but the sound did almost wreck the whole thing. but the women "aiming" their love songs at Sergio, was unintentionally funny. I love Brazilians... love the way they are so happy to show off. glad I didnt pay for the tix tho with such bad sound. The hiphop guy did nada for me either.
