Come down to Bennetts Lane this Tues night (28th Nov)... An all too rare performance from Cleverhorse. Cleverhorse is a five piece contemporary jazz/ambient ensemble who emphasise group improvisation, less common song forms, contemporary sounds, rhythms and experimentation. Yet their music is quite accessible, often atmospheric and melodic, disciplined and never self-indulgent. Led by guitarist Robbie Melville, the personnel comprises Monty Mackenzie (alto sax), Gideon Brazil (tenor sax), Luke Hodgson (bass) and Dan Macdonald (drums). “They have given a lot of thought to an overall sound, to an attractive surface, to listenability as well as creativity or simply ‘getting it on'.... It was seductive and euphoric. They are onto something. They are undoubtedly creative ... A band to be watched.” - John Clare, 27/2/04 9.30pm start $12 or $9 concession Presented by the Melb Jazz Co-op [shadow=red,left,400] Check out the horse at: www.myspace.com/cleverhorse[/shadow]

yeah, was good. a healthy throng of young people and some old (parents mainly). music was pretty good too. d mac does some fun things with his computer and a microphone on his snare - and on the saxes. hopefully we'll tour again in late feb/march up east coast. we'll have a cd out soon...
