Following the resounding success of Stonnington Jazz 2006, the 2007 Festival is fast approaching and set to thrill audiences from 15-25 March.
The impressive program features a selection of some of the finest names from the Australian Jazz world, with an alluring blend of established and emerging artists.
Described as ‘one of the musical highlights of 2006’ by The Age Music Reviewer, Jessica Nicholas, the concerts will be held in the Malvern Town Hall and Chapel Off Chapel where, once again, the spaces will be transformed into intimate jazz club settings.
Adrian Jackson, Creative Director of Stonnington Jazz said that the festival is
a great opportunity to present a program to local audiences that allows them to enjoy the work of some of the biggest names in Australian jazz including James Morrison, Joe Chindamo, Vince Jones, Don Burrows and Paul Grabowsky.
“Stonnington Jazz also allows audiences to discover some of the outstanding talents who aren't yet as widely appreciated as they should be, such as Aaron Choulai, Matt McMahon and Jamie Oehlers,” said Mr Jackson.
City of Stonnington Mayor, Cr John Chandler said that Stonnington Jazz 2007 will build on the success of the 2006 series.
“Stonnington Jazz added another dimension to Council’s arts and cultural events calendar in 2006 and this year’s program will be no exception.
“Council is proud to present Stonnington Jazz 2007 and is delighted to provide residents and visitors with the opportunity to experience the talents of some of Australia’s finest musicians on their very own doorstep,” said Cr Chandler.
Some of the feature performances include:
James Morrison and Joe Chindamo
Jackson Harrison's debut Melbourne performance
Kerri Simpson
Aaron Choulai
The Paul Grabowsky Quartet
Jamie Oehlers and Sam Keevers
Bob, Adam and Rebecca Barnard
