26th April to 11th May
11 days and nights of creative music
www.melbournejazzfringe.com
Presented by:
Lebowski’s, La Mama Musica, Half Bent, Make It Up Club and Jazzhead
The Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival was formed in 2005 to celebrate Melbourne’s burgeoning creative jazz scene. Building on the unprecedented success of the 2005 and 2006 festivals, we are once again ready to party with eleven days and nights of original music featuring Melbourne’s most celebrated improvisers plus an expanded program of interstate guests. The 2007 Jazz Fringe Festival kicks off in Federation Square with a series of concerts including free outdoor events.
The Federation Square program is followed by a series of performances at venues including Bar Open, Lebowski’s, Bennetts Lane Jazz Club, Café 303, The Artery, La Mama and the Northcote Uniting Church; all of which are venues committed to nurturing Melbourne’s creative music scene. Come and hear some of the musicians that give Melbourne the right to claim to be the jazz capital of the southern hemisphere including: Scott Tinkler, Ren Walters, Adam Simmons, Tristram Willaims, Adrian Sherriff, Shannon Barnett, Stephen Magnusson, Gianni Marinucci, Julien Wilson, Peter Knight, the Twelve Tone Diamonds and much more.
On Sunday 6th of May, the Melbourne Jazz Fringe winds up with BIG ARSE SUNDAY… an afternoon and evening of wonderful strangeness, deep groove, dissonance, melody, cacophony, and the beauty of song. From 2.00pm at 303 (Northcote) then from 7.30pm ‘till late next door at Northcote Social Club listeners will kick back to artists including:
Cameron Undy’s 20th Century Dog (Sydney), Bennetts Lane Big Band, Gian Slater, Monopod, Michelle Nicolle, Vada, New Blood and the Scott Tinkler Trio.
The committee would like to thank the following major sponsors:
Federation Square, APRA, Big Trousers (design)
