Anyone know anything about this?
Embracing experimentation, improvisation and risk
Circa: Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus
Ensemble
Circa: Rock 'n' Roll Circus Ensemble returns to Melbourne with two new shows – A Man in a Room, Juggling and A Love Supreme.
Physical, playful and seductive. Steeped in traditional circus language, Circa mixes it up with improvised circus tricks, physical performance, music and video projection.
A Man in a Room, Juggling is a poetically haunting solo performed by David Sampford. The stage is a room. In the room David juggles, balances, manipulates, and performs magic. He will take his skills, his breath, to the very limit.
David will take the audience on a journey into the amazing interior of his skills – a world of forms and shapes as strange as undersea creatures.
A Man in a Room, Juggling is a beautiful performance exploring the art and passion of juggling with a live piano soundscape played by composer Erik Griswold.
A Love Supreme is a meeting of circus and jazz. The ensemble of four will deliver breathtaking solos and off-beat improvisations driven by the music of jazz immortals John Coltrane and Charles Mingus. Mingus' The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady and Coltrane's A Love Supreme provide a soundtrack full of passion, spiritual fury and heartbreaking vulnerability.
A Love Supreme is a risky, challenging and strangely moving reworking of things that are usually fixed.
Yaron Lifschitz, Artistic Director is available for interview.
