'APRA has commissioned Eric Myers to provide information needed to determine the APRA Award for Most Performed Jazz Composition of the Year'
This would seem a little strange to me.
Whats the Award? Whats the commission? Which would you rather have? Whats the Information needed? Isn't it the Job of APRA to know this stuff?
5 questions is enough. Isn't it?
Doh.

APRA's database contains no information at all about the genre of songs so they need some outside input. They just have title and composer information so a pop tune really can't be reliably or easily distinguished from a jazz tune.
As I understand it Eric simply surveys the jazz community of composers to ascertain the titles of their jazz compositions released on CD in the relevant year.
APRA then plugs the titles and composer names into its database and up comes the most performed jazz composition.
It's pretty transparent I think Guts. Good luck!

a few weeks ago in Sydney I hopped into a cab. The driver looked like a musician (don't ask me why). So I asked him what instrument he played. He said he played trumpet and sax but gave it up to paint. Anyway blah blah blah ... to get to the point, he was driving Eric Myer's cab. I was sitting in Eric's cab.
Of all the cabs in all the world...

aj - actually that's how we got on to topic of EM by talking music. The driver didn't know of Phil Slater but knew Bernie, cos his boss "does a lot of work with him". It was a long drive. Nice driver, sweet guy btw but spooky all the same.

Guts plays his songs so many times because he can never get all the notes right. He's is definitely a shoe in.
