Now there's a man who knows how to throw an insult. There's a certain honour in being insulted when it's done with such panache. I never really liked Keating when he was in office, but these-a-days I'm almost nostalgic for those heady days, post happy pants, pre cargo pants.

Almost nostalgic, alimcg? Wow, I would transport myself back to the time of Keating's Prime Ministership in an instant. Trade in my father's dunce classmate - (yes, I'm ashamed to say that my father went to school with Johnny, then went on to teach alongside his wife) - for a prime minister who supported the arts, aboriginal reconciliation, the notion of an egalitarian culture with respect for different ethnicities and equal opportunity for all - a true visionary who was way ahead of the masses, and widely misunderstood as a result? Trade in this little ice cube of a man for the great Titanic sinking PJK - in an instant, in a heartbeat - nothing equivocal about it.
