Hey Mark hope your celebrations are a blast.
As a non drinker if you are planning to get stuck into it stick to clear spirits like Vodka or Gin, it really makes a difference the next day.
Cosmopolitan anyone?

First celebration tonight, family one, with Grandmother, uncle, cousins, wife, daughter, boyfriends of daughter and cousin.
My alcohol consumption: 3 shots of straight Stoli from freezer, 1 flute French champagne, 1 glass white wine.
Effect of alcohol: told everybody I loved them repeatedly, especially daughter (only child) who left home a few days ago. Very sleepy now.
Menu was prepared by me (my wife worked a double shift in childcare, I took the day off to shop and cook):
Nibbles: Maggie Beer duck pate, aioli, lavash crackers, wasabi peas, mixed pitted olives
Soup: celeriac with truffle oil (well laced with Danish butter)
Main: osso bucco on polenta
Dessert: tiramisu birthday cake

5 Drinks?  !!!!! GAY!!!! You told people you loved them, that's terrible, you should have kept drinking then taking it all back screaming at your daughter that she'll never make it without you then vomit on you Grandmothers lap. You could have taken a swing at your daughters boyfriend, missed and broken your wifes nose then blamed it all on your unsuccessful balding Uncle. Of course what you did is one option that may have worked for you this time. Happy beginning of Birthday, I hope it gets much worse  |

Thanks Iron, I know my efforts were meagre but I am trying. One thing - I'm up at 5am the next day posting this - no real ill effects. I guess that's just totally gay.
