Do either of you have a phone number for Darren while he is here?
Would like to get in touch with him. Maybe private message me if you've got one.

Gee wish I could go to this one, oh,,,,,,,, I wish I'd gone. Didn't know about that one and did know about Adam Simmons solo blowfest at 45 downstairs. (and they mean downstairs). hate these double bookings. I probably missed a resurgence band somewhere, too.

That Steve is Law unto himself.
And I'm not making it up, but Tinkler sure can.
And there's Moore. Much more.
Loved the bowed polystyrene.
I think there were a few musicians there. (No sign of Isaacs, but it's a little out of his way.)

Thanks for being there Dodgy, amongst the well less than 35 payers!! I had fun and worked up quite a sweat too.

Thanks for being there Dodgy, amongst the well less than 35 payers!! I had fun and worked up quite a sweat too. I get the reference mate, fair enough (and I had fun and worked up a sweat at BL too) but let's be entirely fair here Scott. Since the remark is gently pointed please allow me to respond. Did this gig involve 5 interstate airfares and 5 hotel rooms? Did the presenter lose $1000 presenting it? Not the audience's problem all that of course. Except that clearly if they want to hear that particular band of mine "next time" there clearly can't be a next time. That's all I'm saying.

I know we're all having fun with these gig digs, but given the loss to the presenter and the loss to Melbourne audiences of the band not returning, it's not really something to joke about. Is there a magic solution? Apart from the timing of the gig not being ideal, I don't understand why Melbourne could not provide more bums on seats. We don't have an aversion to Sydney musos ... or do we?

We don't have an aversion to Sydney musos ... or do we? Good question Roger. Some of my colleagues here in Sydney (and I don't necessarily mean my band members) have already answered that question in the affirmative. If it's true, it's not mutual. Witness the sterling turnout for Browne-Hannaford-Anning in Sydney. Not so much musos (though I and a couple of other cats were there) just heaps of interested punters.

Really odd the lack of turnout considering there's not much to do in melbourne.

There is no aversion, just a quiet gig. I did 2 gigs at 505 last week with good turn out and I only covered my costs, made no money. Had a ball though. Done heaps of gigs that lose money, plenty that made it, it's all there. One bad turn out at Bennetts is not the end of the world. The money lost is money that is supposed to be spent on things like that,if it made a profit then it doesn't need the funding. I reckon rejoice in the fact you were able to play your music at all, with the band of your choice too, excellent thing to do indeed. Gees I saw the Arditti string quartet play at the new concert hall here to less than 100 people, not much profit margin there. I'm sure James and Denni pull a crowd at Bennetts, maybe you need a singer?

How holier-than-thou you are. Like you never whinge (cough cough). And like it's just about me when there's an endemic problem being highlighted here which you choose to sweep under the carpet with condescending advice. Soft, Tinkler.
