Just happen to be on page 31 of 'what are you listening to' and coincidently listening to the Paul Grabowsky Trio HUSH Collection Vol, 3. Beautiful music, When I first picked up the CD and read the background to its making I was expecting really gentle calming music, there's that and some swinging pieces as well, congratulations Paul, Gary and Andrew. I let this lie around for a while before even playing it, but did so over the weekend after prodding from a pal and then Tim's mention here last week. Wow, this is a fantastic record - and will, I suspect, earn a more permanent place in my heart than other fine Grabowsky projects of late. Go to www.hush.org.au if you wanna know where to buy a copy.

Feel free to buy the magazine then !
I'm too lazy to type it all again & I'm sure Brian could use the extra sales.

my grandmother might never forgive me if I do. so for her sake, I hope you can help.

I bought it when it came out. Can't remember where. Gaslight, I think. I was you, I'd phone Birdland in Sydney and ask if they ever get 2nd hand copies.
It's real sad Tinky's gone so far down hill since those glory days!

god I know.
like a rolling stone.
why I hear he's even so confused that he's started playing 5 or even 7 quavers in places where only 4 are supposed to fit. thats not even jazz. well, that's old age for you.

Im pretty sure Birdland still has copies, though Im so old I don't really remember if , um, whats that? Back in my walking frame and off to the bingo I go, 5/4, 7/5, 3/7,,,,,,BINGO!!
You know, that 'not even Jazz' comment is interesting though. I had an argument with Brandford ( more just a drunken discussion,,, yes it was me that was drunk) where I basically said that I don't consider myself to be a Jazz musician, he was saying " No man, you play jazz, I want you up on stage with me next time I come to Aus". Now I know he was trying to be nice and all but it was like he needed me to love Jazz and want to be Jazz to justify his focus on it, at least at that moment anyhow. Now Im not saying anything about the state of Jazz, just that I dont feel the need to call myself, or be called, a Jazz musician. All this talk of Jazz is dead bullshit, Missy Bitch is the new thing, is all labels, hype and a waste of time. Like Mark said, it can be 200, 20000, or 2 years old, if it rocks your world, so be it.

Because of me, der!!!
Im listening to the sound of hammering, drills, circular saws and grinding, then the cricket inbetween. Makes a refreshing change.

Johnny's sister's boyfriend is listening to John Farnham.
So be it?
I wish it wasn't
and tinky: shame on you for almost starting another "What is Jazz?" discussion. That's suicidally boring. Although I did like the name dropping. very classy.

Tinky should defintily get up with B. Marsalis next time they are here. THe only reason I bought a ticket last january was to hear Tinkler and Tain together. Luckily I managed to offload my sydney ticket at late notice. This is not a dis on Simon Barker by the way, he's the shit - but I just don't like pg's music that much. It's interesting that Branford did consider you a 'Jazz' player, considering his somewhat specific definitions. Whether you like the word or not, it is a compliment coming from a guy who has played with Miles, Dizzy and Wynton.

I had no idea Ian Crowther played period music. Viola de Gamba, Clavichord or Sacbutt?
