No, but as far as I'm concerned Pettman can have that one too.

It's worse than I thought. There are occasionally glimmers on this board of positive thinking, which is to say not necessarily 'everything is great and life is super-dooper' so much as 'perhaps we could talk things over intelligently, open-mindedly and with an eye to the bigger issues.' Such are the reasons I, for one, keep reading and occasionally contributing. But to think there are people who can seriously (presuming it is serious, although I reserve the right to suspect or hope that it may not be) offer something so outrageously simplistic, bone-headed, and ignorant as 'the best of Australian Jazz is a copy or direct result of the 'Jazz' that came from the American culture' makes my head spin. This piddling little parish, to paraphrase Patrick White's description of Australia. Grow up. in cyberspace there are no parishes dude

Thanks for the offer Tim, but I swore never to set foot in that place again. Seriously when I have some free time for reading I'll send you an email or something and follow it up.

It's very nice that you would all offer me your goats. I'm sure in some countries this is a high compliment.
I'm simply here on this forum to learn more about the music here. I'm sorry if my opinions are uninformed and insulting. Hopefully as I gain more insight to the Australian jazz scene as a whole I'll get more appreciation for the originality and skills here in this country.
So far I have been called a troll and a Howard supporting yachtie with a gold buttoned blazer, all not very welcoming, but I see there is a lot of humor here so I take it in jest.
Be patient with me as I join the learning journey of this music.
Joan.

Well, I still think you're an act, but feel free to prove that you are a real person and I'll take your opinions seriously. Personally I have very conservative tastes too....

Yes Joan - prove you are real - send me a photo! although it 'll have to be infra red for me. Personally I applaude conservativism if its truly felt - theres nothing wrong with a bit of purist dogma as long as youre hardcore about it - and at least semi intelligent...life 'd be fucking boring without a few reactionary purists around the place to keep us all entertained.

What you ask is of course quite difficult. At least I use my name, obviously there are many imaginary characters on here, unless Bat is your real name? Until you come up with a reasonable solution I'll just continue to voice my opinion.
xxoo Joan.
