Marc Johnson, The sound of summer running. Some good tunes, some rubbish. Leigh Barker Quintet, Off to Moruya. Stylish, consoling. Mark Isaacs, Resurgence. Ditto. REM, Green. Box of LPs returned from storage in the country. Miles Davis, In a silent way. Ditto.

Out of me and Mark, who has more deliberate nods of the hat towards Jarrett, in your opinion? Thanks for listening chief.... ;D

Actually the winner there is Michael Stipe. 'You fill in the mortar, you fill in the harmony. You fill in the mortar. I raised the wall, and I'm the only one. I will be the one to knock it down.'

Funny! I assume thats an REM lyric...
After Joe Z passed I put on his debut solo album, which has a great version of 'Silent Way' - with all the chord changes intact! It's an amazing record, kind of like Bitches Brew but with Woody Shaw instead of Miles. My dad had it on Vinyl so heard this one heaps before I even knew what Bitches Brew was.
...And at every gig I've had since Joe passed I've done my best to play a version of 'Birdland' and 'Mercy Mercy Mercy', I reckon everyone should do it, it could be Australian Jazz's little tribute to Joe. We should all play his songs for the rest of the month...

Funny! I assume thats an REM lyric... Um, yeah. Actually, I have nothing to say. But I wondered if anything would happen if I racked up 250 posts.

Oh and my cat playing piano and singing, again, I think he wants dinner. Well if you haven't fed him by 12.19am, it's little wonder.

You'll never be a real promoter if you adopt that attitude AJ.

Look he thinks he's a jazz musician - he never gets up before noon for a start. Last night he decided to impress me with more spontaneous improvisation at 3.43 a.m. Time to move the piano out of the bedroom or just close the lid although I'm reluctant to stifle his creativity. Maybe I can get him a gig at the Melbourne Festival next year, if you're going to pass AJ.
