ok, let's see..............a trumpet player who records for ecm.......a sax player from the States.......some others from Sweden, UK, NZ..........lots of good bands from Melbourne & Sydney, some from Brisbane & Adelaide..........is that enough hints ? The program will be announced tomorrow in Melbourne ; the program should be on www.wangaratta-jazz.org.au later tomorrow, and I'm hoping there'll be coverage in the newspapers on Thursday.

I was so excited to see the program was up and then I started reading it and thought : what -Katie Noonan -again? And then I noticed all the bands were same as last year. Adrian can't you do better than that? LOL - There's a lot of talent in Italy you know have you thought about bringing some of them over?

Well last year's bands all worked pretty well, I thought we'd just book them all again.

I'll kick that one off: Tord. Very ordinary.

I just know I'm going to be a shattered man - AGAIN.
No Grateful Dead.
No Jelly Roll Morton.
No Motorhead.
No Richard Clayderman.
Time for a new artistic director, methinks.

on Tord. very un-ordinary. turned out to be my favorite find of the year. and i didn't even go to Wang- heard it from a music loving friend who came back from Wang gushing about Tord and played the CD in the house where i was a guest. i found it such a beautiful mesh of a trio who really know how to extract the most beauty from simplicity. I've been playing their music muchly ever since.
anyways.. just to illustrate disappointed, one mans trash, another womans treasure. ...and thanks vb for turning me on to it.

Tord was a major highlight from Wang last year. Always much, much harder to play something beautiful than something ugly. His drummer was inspirational.

Congrats aj on what looks like an excellent program. I can't wait to see Oliver Lake! Is his trio his own band?
