"drinks are exi and the intros are vomit inducing" which makes it even more shiithouse when you vomit up your expensive drink straight into the Kawai and thats the drink that the fuckwit sound recording guy refused to buy you in the first place. those bastards! Sound recording guys can record in either room....which drink did I refuse to buy?.....

Breaking News My March 5 performance at Bennetts Lane will have a start time of 8:30pm Can I bring Bennie? He's almost 5. Hates jazz, but gets force fed heaps of it anyway. No guarantee of quiteness, which may be a problem with that arty farty piano trio stuff. But a bag of chips should shut him up for the best part of a set, especially if the grand Bennetts Lane tradition - five-minute sets, three-year breaks - continues.

Ha ha. My daughter learned to shut up at concerts at three and I guaranteed quietness to my chamber music performer colleagues at their recitals, and they got it. It's called discipline, and is highly unfashionable which is another good reason to do it in spades. Anyone making overt noise at my gigs will be admonished by me, regardless of age. It might just be a glare to start though. But when it comes to the crunch, take no prisoners I say. Love to see Bennie there if he shuts up.
Welcome back!

OK, I'll bite. Tell me your discipline secrets. Masking tape?

OK, I'll bite. Tell me your discipline secrets. Masking tape? No. Just an inculcation of the importance of behaving in a certain way in public (and in certain specific situations), always, always leading by example. If kids can be taught not to to take their clothes off in public, or be toilet trained, they can be taught to shut up at a concert. It depends on the importance YOU as the parent give it. If you are in any way ambivalent about the importance of shutting up at a concert, they will not learn from you.
