I'd have to agree with you tiger. The function of an instrument is to make life easy and the sax is such an easy thing. The problem arises when there is a person behind the instrument. Alto players are either junkies or totally crazy, sometimes both. Obviously the sax is easy but bad for your health, both physical and mental. The Trumpet however is a difficult instrument, proved by the amount of bad trumpet players. It does however build character and strength, both physical and mental, through the continual application of one self to the mastering of all the challenges it offers.

Unfortunetely you are wrong dear Tinkler. There a undoubtably more shit alto players than trumpeters and this is because at first you have the illusion that the horn is easy and then you hear the men, Bird, Cannonball, cutting the likes of Dizzy, Narvaro not to mention it's contempary use. Well the Alto wins everytime. To argue with these FACTS would be true folly my dear Tinkler. By the way Tiger enjoys alot of sex if anyone waz wondering.

When you say there are so many bad trumpet players you are automatically stating that you are good? Maybe you are not good? Maybe you suck but everyones ears are flawed? All the big wigs that go on and on about you.... Maybe Eugene is actually really good?
Regardless, there is no phrase that says "Oh hes just blowing his own alto sax".. IS THERE? Thats because Trumpet players are egomaniacs, apart from ofcourse, Freddie Hubbard and Miles!!!
there is the gauntlet my dear Tinkler, you must fight to the death! Tiger will SLAY YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Anything a person feels a compulsion to repeatedly put in their mouth to play with indicates a yearning for a lost bond with mother. The mouthpiece represents the hard nipples of the breasts, which is the first experience of the child. In males it might also indicate that the player is confused about the importance of the size of his penis.
Freud was correct in his theory that all brass players are "totally crazy, man" with a deep yearning for constant attention and the desire to really be singing instead of hiding behind a brass instrument.

Ok, this seems to be a Tiger posting frenzy. Typical sax player, just listening to themselves and ignoring the rest of the world. Firstly I agree that putting something in your mouth repeatedly is totally reeking of mother complex. I would like to point out however that brass mouthpieces go on the mouth not in, it is only reed instruments that continually poke things into their gob. Tiger, you do win on your point that there are more bad sax players. I'd go further and say there are fuck all good ones. BTW, Jamie and Tim played their arses of last night at Bennetts, go see Paul Willy's band next wednesday, that boy writes and play's seriously good music. Now my point that there are alot of bad trp players did not automatically suggest that I am good, but as it happens I am, and so is Eugene, and Paul and many others. We are all stable upstanding intellegent people that set an exsample for the youth entering in to our line of work. (except for spelling!) Dizzy and Fats never got cut btw. My little Tiger, you are but a Cub having a play fight with his dad to get the feel of what its like in the real world. You are yet to slay, stick to pizza's and pies my little pussy cat, its much safer for you that way.

You're both but children if you ask me, not that you would. Maturity is something far escaping you both! Listen to Dolphy, who has been that interesting on the trumpet Tinky? I'll answer that for you, no-one. What about Ornette? Don comes close but even Ornette plays as well as Don on the trumpet. Tiger, your'e on the right track with the horn but get your head into some more interesting music than be-bop-ba-loo-blah. Go back to the sandpit kiddies.

Lets put some names together and see if you can deduce anything from these Scotty
Bird- Chuck mangione Sonny Stitt- Herb Alpert Dolphy-? noone Phil Woods- Chris Botti Tiger Rex- Scott Tinkler
...... You see, I love the attention dolts like jizz police and guttted intellect and Mr no imagination or originality himself
give me because it means they are obsessed with me, just like you are Scott..yes...I have seen you hiding in the background at every gig Ive done since i moved to Melbourne, with your little mini disk Mic hiding and even if you do transcribe my stuff, you can never be me! Just like Jazz Police will only ever really police his own mediocrity. Tiger is the most controversial topic ever to hit the Jazz Forum stage because he is so visceral, so upfront and truthful. I will even teach you to play alto if you like Scott .... YESS!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSS>>TIGER HAS MADE IT! Bird plays alto Tiger plays alto

Miles- Mal Sedergreen Wheeler- Kenny G Little- Andrew Oh Hubbard- Ritchie Cole Shaw- Cherry- Satch Dizzy etc. Tiger, fuck you. All the biggest names are trp players mate, they shape the music and the sax players drag along behind When youve learnt to play I'll bother to listen to you. Those recordings I've got I play to my mates and we have a good laugh, fuckin funny stuff.

Tinky's winning this one Tiger! That last post slayed yours, sorry mate.
To be fair there are a zillion more bad alto players out there compared to trp so he has a bigger pool to put up against trumpet. Tinkler's come up trumps. Better lay day down for a while and lick your wounds.
