I seem to recall someone lamenting they couldn't find a copy of Mark Simmonds' epic album, Fire.
Birdland in Sydney sent out an email the other day, promoting their revived label (great new album from Theaktet), and mentioned in passing that they still have a few copies of Fire (and Mike Nock's solo set, Touch).
Get in quick !

yeah agreed, it's pretty awesome this record, l've been listening to heaps of older stuff by Mark that Martin Jackson made copies for me, most of it is from the 80's from the KMA collective, also some recordings from gigs over the years...Mark is in freaky form... it would be great to have some of this stuff released as well, to me it is really important link in Australian improvised music, a lot of the music was pretty influenced by no-wave kinda stuff, James 'Blood' Ulmer, Ronald Shannon Jackson, Ornette's Prime Time bands and the like, really really intersting rhythm section concept, multiple layered rythmic stuff all over the place, heavy...

Will any copyright infringements there? If so should you be admitting this in a public forum?

Jamie, I think I was around 26 when Fire was recorded, fuck it was a while ago now. Yes Antboy, that stuff is amazing and should be released. The duet with Mark and Greg Sheehan is frightening. Mark is circular breathing on those super high harmonics and its so intense, a good example of extreme virtuosity used in such a musically expressive way, no 'showing off' ( had to put that in!).
