I heard from a couple of people that Herbie Hancock may be coming to Australia next year?
Can anybody here confirm/deny this? Sorry if this has already been discussed, I had a look, but yeah didn't see anything.

www.aso.com.au/Calendar/apr07.htm#herbie Herbie Hancock & the ASO In association with Adelaide Festival Centre – Trans:Mission Program Adelaide Festival Theatre Friday 27 April at 8pm Saturday 28 April at 8pm Piano Herbie Hancock Herbie Hancock is a true music icon in every sense of the word. Few other musicians of the 20th century have exhibited the wide range of interests and mastery of various genres that this jazz legend has brought to his remarkable body of work. A protegé of the legendary Miles Davis, Hancock has gone on to display restless creativity that keeps him pushing the boundaries of his craft. Herbie Hancock will appear exclusively in Adelaide with the ASO. Performing a range of hits, this ‘cool cat’ will be a must for lovers of not only jazz but those who adore great musicianship and timeless arrangements.

I don't know whether to be proud of Adelaide or not... Why not?! The gig looks slightly sus (Watermelon Man and Canteloupe Island with the ASO strings, anyone?) but no matter what he does he is one of a diminishing number of genuine living jazz legends, and whoever convinces their ilk to make the trip here should be applauded. Let's hope he gives value for money.

When an artist is brought out here by an organisation, is there usually some kind of a stipulation in the contract that prevents them from doing other gigs?

Generally, yes ; the organisation in question is the 'sponsor' of the tour (so far as the Immigration Dept is concerned), to the artist will have a visa that only allows them to do the gig/s the sponsor has applied for.

For this performance only Herbie will also be including a medley of the Necks greatest hits in tribute to their recent Aria award.
