The farting caberet performer mentioned earlier is called 'Le Pettomaine' (someone might want to correct my shithouse french spelling) and he was famous for not only farting songs but for imitating all sorts of things - the sound of tearing calico, for instance. God only knows why I retain such useless bits of trivia.

No, Sydney Opera House - The State Theatre has good acoustics and in my experience works well for amplified music.
