What the dogshit is wrong with people's sensibilities these days? Tinkler kicked out of the forum? Why?! He is often (along with a select few others - and I'm not assuming here to know how it all works, open portals et al) one of the only ones to actually say something and stimulate any kind of response around here. The Good Doctor also drops the bomb when it's needed. What kind of a world would it be if nothing provocative was permitted? If all you (very general terms here, collective noun)want is for people to slap you on the back and for everyone to tell each other how wonderful they are then please piss off and join some navel-gazing self help group. Whatever happened to reading between the lines? Whatever happened to thinking for yourself and not taking everything at face value? I know we are living in a spoon-fed world, but this is getting out of hand. Whatever happened to the phrase 'term of endearment'? A lot of the folks posting here know each other in the real world (remember what that is, kids?), so of COURSE there's going to be a fair portion of in-jokes, name calling, 'bullying' etc flying around...how many of you will be offended or upset if I call he who posts under 'Captain' a Jazz Cunt? I know he won't be. Speaking of, if THAT word offends you so much, just don't bother reading. It's part of present day parlance. Get used to it. It's only four letters strung together in a certain order. 'The Jazz world is watching'? Are they? Are they disgusted? Are they laughing? Are they shocked by the lack of filth? Who cares? Sheesh.

What the dogshit is wrong with people's sensibilities these days? There are straighteners and punishers everywhere - conservative boring fucks who have no imagination apart from the toxic visions of that bespectacled little creep in Canberra who rapes the soul of this country every time he opens his mouth - the truly horrible thing about political correctness is its dishonesty You cant say what you really think without offending someone every now and then - Crank it up Guts..

Jesus Fucking cunting christ, here we go again, kick em off the forum, they say naughty words and the world might get scared. I don't care oj or Ibuie or whatever whoever you are, probably Fred Nile, uptight dick head. Look, I've got energy, energy for fun, energy for fucking good music, energy to talk about the truth- whatever that is perceived to be, I'm up for it all. What really shits me is boring arsholes that do nothing but complain about something they're doing nothing to fix. To quote my mate Yergen-" if you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem" I recon you are the total problem, conservative fearful little fucks that get squeemish when someone does something with passion and focus. Like Bodgey said, remember the real world? Bodgey is my best friend now until Cartman comes back, again.

you're supposed to read between the lines, or that might be way too dangerous.

"...of that bespectacled little creep in Canberra."
Hold on there gator, I think you'll find that it's Sydney that needs to be held responsible for that one. He spends no time in Canberra. They should turn the Lodge into a home for out-of-work jazz musos. Or perhaps make it Canberra's Playboy Mansion.

bespectacled little creep in Canberra who rapes the soul of this country every time he opens his mouth for a second I read from Canberra not in and I thought Gator was having a go at me in the spirit of bullying and freedom of speech. Then again I don't even know if I know who Gator is so its pretty paranoid on my part...

Guts, take a bow - exactly.
Energy! Spend it wisely, folks.
Energy, passion and focus. For good music, healthy dialogue, honesty and trying to fucking well keep it real.
Energy that far too many people pour into being worried about what other people think and into trying not to offend anybody. Musicians offend a fair percentage of people just by the fact that we exist, so if you are a musician and are at all worried about these kind of issues then you're stuffed from the outset.
Of COURSE there's going to be clashes of values and opinions - thank fuck, says I. The interest lies not in retreating into your own little hidey-hole and feeling offended and pissed off at the world but in thinking about it, talking about it and not treating your own beliefs as the fucking Gospel all the time. Other people actually exist!! Amazing!! Maybe, just maybe, they have something interesting and inspired to say - even if you have to read a sentence with nasty words in it.
Not everyone is going to like the shit you say or play. It's an impossibility. Do what you do with conviction, passion and energy and don't back down the minute someone questions it.
The only way I've grown as a musician is having people kick my arse, and I welcome it. I want people's honest reactions to what I do. I'd rather be told by 1 honest person that they hated with a passion what I played than be patted on the back by a crowd of back-slappers becuase it was the truth. They felt something. I created something, and there was a reaction to it. If I get offended by that, then I've missed the entire fucking point.

Gids yeah. right! I told you you need to spend more time in St Kilda East! You lefty nerd you Guts you are a mofo cheapskate Ho. It's end of year recital time so Cartman's probably busy stealing other kids metronomes to flog on ebay. As for Stinkler, he can "eat my fuck" as my old music teacher used to say. She had such a mouth on her that Dame, but lesbians are all the same, shockin' the things that come out of mouths these days. Speaking of mouths, how come that pic of Guts and the Ipod still hasn't made it here yet?

Kenny: I was talking about personally insulting people. Not the general comaprison of Australian/American music! I see these two statements as seperate topics: 1. I don't think anyone has the right to personally insult another jazz musician 2. American jazz has had more time to develop as an art form, it has a longer history and more international influential jazz artists.
