Relax - it's important to remember the prequel to this: the Scottish critic's reaction to Resurgence. It explains everything, and even shows that Mark's comment is a humorous one. The whole sub-thread was in a jocular vein. Thanks Tim, spot on. Yep I'm now able to have a laugh about that Resurgence review as an extreme example of this business of a review having to map the CD at hand to something else. It just seemed like an opportune light-hearted comment for that part of the thread and wasn't aimed at Kenny and Roger's paper. Anyway it's certainly nice to have some background from Kenny and to see him around these parts again! You would have loved my osso buco Kenny. Yes, well, now that I've reread the review in question, I'd agree that "extreme" is an entirely accurate word. Osso Buco? Isn't he the guy that sells Italian ferniture on Footiscray?

Franco Cozzo!
Hey Kenny do you have any really good Johnny Guitar Watson where he plays alot of guitar? I bought some stuff but its mainly the commercial R&B stuff without any guitar solos.

No don't have any of his stuff at the mo - I'm doing a lot of catching up with this sort of thing. But yeah he's one of those schizo artists - shredding mind-blowing west coast blues guitar in the '50s and early '60s, then on to a career in funky R&B. Given that I've bought stuff in recent months by Lowell Fulson and T-Bone Walker, I guess it's only a matter of time till I get round to Watson and the likes of Pee Wee Crayton.

Raising Sand - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Never thought I'd be enjoying Robert Plant again but this is an interesting recording produced by T Bone Burnett

O deary me. You shouldn't denigrate your own musicianship like that. Although, on reflection, there do seem to be similarities ...

Thursday night: Geoff Hughes, Tom Lee, Ronny Ferella and Michelle Nicolle at the Brunswick Green play one excellent set followed by Simon Barker, Julien Wilson Phil Rex and Colin Hopkins at Bennetts for a brilliant set. Both places very well attended. I do like living in Melbourne.
