I recieved a CD of the best of Jazzhead 2005 - really interesting. I love the duet with Jamie Oehlers and Sam Keevers.
Wayne Shorter - live in Edinburgh Miles Davis - highlights from the plugged nickel This album is amazing and one of my favorites - one of the great albums in the history of jazz.

The Java Quartet - Deep Blue Sea. Saw this crew at Bennetts Lane last night. What a lovely album this is. Sort of like having a clean, fresh sharp, zingy pasta sauce - with lemon zest or anchovies - instead of all that meat 'n' tomatoes stuff.

Guthrie is amazing, is it true he doesn't really play drums anymore except when he comes out here? If so, he's in incredible form.
Taraf de Haidouks - that's one crazy band, also love Sultan's Picnic nice one JW, look forward to hearing the new record when the good offer comes through!
for me lately: chuco valdez's old cuban band irakere orlando cachaito lopez just discovered a beautiful cello and saxophone duo from Seattle -Paul Rucker and Hans Teuber

I just heard a recording of Joe Chindamo live in Perugia at the Umbria festival take from three solo performances. I have never, ever, heard him play so well. His technique has gone up about ten notches and the improvisation, harmonisation and beauty of his playing is just outstanding. I mean, how good can you get? If he keeps improving at this rate what the hell will he be doing ten years from now?
I know I'm gushing but when you hear this, if you love jazz, you are going to be knocked off your feet.

I'm listening the to guy with the steam cleaning machine do my carpets. I am trying to have that Glenn Gould type moment of a deep sense and connection to music I can't hear but it isn't working.
