aj, you need to polish up on your alphabet! If I had any Randy Weston, I'd have passed it before Weckl. You guys wait til I get to the other end, that's where the real skeletons are!
Right now, Doug Wamble.

Seconded.
Oh, I think I can forgive you for that aj, with all this heady talk of Weckl and Weather Report. Yes, yes, it's sad, I own a Weckl. I was 17, new to jazz, owned only one Miles and one Monk CD, and Tony Williams and Dave Weckl were the only jazz (using the term losely) drummers I'd heard of.

" Yani conducts the SSO/MSO in a special night of his music with guest soloist James Morrison." I'd lay a $100 Morrison would do it too.

How about Yani conducts the SSO/MSO playing the greatest hits of Dido, with guest soloist Morrison? Maybe we could get a Daddo involved too.

It would have to be Yani's muisic to keep the multicultural aspect. Add Christine Anu as guest vocalist instead of Dido then you've got the indigenous thing covered and the project is ready for an Australia Council grant. Classical+Jazz+Ethnic+Indigenous Woman = LARGE GRANT. Can't miss. Although slight chance it might be criticised for copying the AAO and fall at the last hurdle.

W is past, onto V. Some good (Vivaldi) some one hit wonders (The Verve). Next up Sarah Vaughan.
Freddy, I think you missed the "english as a second language" one. (Where's the tongue in cheek emoticon when you need it?)

(Where's the tongue in cheek emoticon when you need it?) Wouldn't Yani cover that as well? Say, now that you're onto "V", after Sarah V. who do you go to next in your collection? Von Freeman or does he start with F? I've got him under "V" Here's one for you Ali (going back to another thread where we exchanged opinions): How about "Don Burrows Does The Veronicas" with the Mellotones, Philip Sametz and Julie Anthony. Could work because it aims at the daggy end of the youth market and the daggy end of the mainstream market.
