I don't know now. I imagine ladylex would love Ken, and Scott, and the Necks, and, well, everybody (except Frank).

Dudes... troll? Duh? ...or maybe just a conservative listener.
One funny thing was, Tinky's 4tet at Wang was one of the only groups who DID swing, of the stuff I saw. Ken was frequently playing crotchets on his ride and hooking up with Phil. When they locked in to a groove the shit was monstrous.

Gilberto Gil today. And let me just say "fuck yeah" to Getz/Gilberto. There's no excuse for jazz musos screwing over bossa novas. Just buy that album and cop that understated groove.
And captain, I think that Clara Nunes song has the bass on 1,3 & 4. I think the backward thing is the illusion and the more obvious way is actually the right way to feel it. I think the ago-go part is the give-away.

Yeah, there's no way Lex would speak ill of Ken Eadie. Isn't he from Brisbane?

Who cares if it swings or not? Who do you think you are, Joan: Stanley Crouch? People like you have a horse-blinkered perception of music which really only appeals to the kind of dry-land yachties who wear blazer with gold buttons. Get with the program. Honestly, it makes me sick, this kind of Howard-era nostalgia for ding ding a ding.

Tinkler's set at Wang was a total, total blast I loved it. But Paulgrab.......... (is that really you?) blazer's with gold buttons? More likley polar fleece/ birkenstocks.
I agree it don't mean a thing if it dont ding ding a ding
but i reckon that some of that music you accusing the yachties (whoever they are) of digging is mainstream? or I have I got it wrong? I think a lot of people like ding ding a ding and can also dig, Count Basie, David Toop, IshIsh, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Henry Threadgill, Mose Allison, Stockhausen (senior) and Liszt, and not give a rats arse what anyone thinks. but then some of us are ocassionally openminded and stable (but not that often in my case sadly)

I hope that wasn't the real PaulGrab, it was a very defensive and dare I say insecure response to somone who is either a) a troll or b) someone who just likes swinging Jazz.

And to link Americas greatest contribution to the world with Howard conservatism is really, really lame.

So now I have someone pretending to be Paul Grabowski calling me a yachtie who wears a blazer with gold buttons? What is this place? If it is the real Mr Grabowski, I'm sorry if I offended as I do like some of your work. When you decide to you can swing like Joe Chindamo! It's just that the stuff with that quartet makes a parody of all the hard work you've obviously done on your craft. Also I doubt you can blame John Howard for this one, if only he could give us more ding da ding.
