Vicki, Vicki, Vicki - please try to think in a "half full" manner. If it wasn't for the fellow to whom I presume you and AJ are referring, we almost certainly wouldn't have this 100-member forum in which to frolic. Kenny: I have no idea who you are talking about - please explain in more detail. AJ: do you get what he's talking about? If so perhaps one of you kind gentlemen might enlighten me, please. The people (there is, unfortunately, more than one) whom I shall not name, for fear of losing the contents of my stomach all over the keys of my laptop, have nothing, nada, nil, nyente, zero, zilch etc. to do with OJF as far as I am aware, unless, of course, they were the incentive for Maestro Mark to provide an alternate forum? I am so behind with the jazz gossip! Where's Paula Langland when you need her? Paula... please.

UB!!!! As a fan of the BLBB (ARIA nominee for worst band name ever!) I thank you for putting them at the top of your list. Unfortunately as aj pointed out the band was there a couple of years ago. Maybe you could lobby the ABC to get their CD out before moss grows on it. 4 to a room at the Warby!!!!! Go ----- yourself. Although I do like the Warby, beats Benalla.
As a fan of Mike Nocks I'm happy to tell you to "wake up, you sure sound old for a young guy" As far as I know Blowfish only really work with a singer to satisfy certain club owners. Guthrie is a tee-totaller and Magnusson is a tea-sipper and Wilson....well it doesn't matter what time of the day it is. Their last gig there was at 11am so once again....what the hell are you talking about?
"That guy doing the Stevie Wonder impersonation" is the best singer, no, probably best MUSICIAN on your lamelamelame list (apart from maybe Mike Nock).
Vicki......have you been giving UB valium? He seems to be asleep or brain dead. Give him a bigger dose nexttime, hopefully put him out of his misery.
aj! If this guy truly was on stage at Wang, my request for this year is to not let that happen again.

Sorry Punter, I beg to differ. At no point am I making the point that Jensen is a brilliant composer or that she's tour worthy for any stylistic reason. I just like some of her stuff - that's all. I think audiences here would really dig her music... don't bother correcting me if I'm wrong - cause I just don't agree! ha! aaaaaaaaaaargh back at ya.

caught Ingrid in Sydney I think 2 years back, I agree with anonymous punter , sorry to say it was not a very exciting night. There are many Aussies who would be a better choice than bringing her all the way over. Being a Sydney sider I would like to see Sam Keevers cuban big band at Wangaratta this year. My all time favourite choice would be the Dave Holland Quintet, how about it aj, spend all your money at once. How about the great Kenny Barron?

I was thrilled my the Jim McNeeley/Gai Bryant shows, hence my request for the likes of Holman (yyyyessss!), Schneider, Kelly and Brookmeyer. Just one airfare and a hand-picked bunch of Aussies. Although I'm not sure Bill does that (and he's another who would require/deserve, a business class seat).

I saw Ingrid Jensen in NY with Donny Mcaslin's band and it was all very good. Maybe she's better in other people's bands...? Everyone to their own.

Has anyone seen or heard much of Don Braden. I have a couple of CDs. Again, I like it - so I imagine no one else does? Is he also too post bop for you Punter?

yeah ok gbr, we can disagree and i still luv you. it's nothing personal and i really mean it when i say ingrid jensen can play, but instrumental virtuosity is certainly no guarantee of good taste. i'm sure i won't get much argument there. i can imagine ingrid might be good in other people's bands but i return to my assertion that her music is putrid. i just had a listen on her website to her latest stuff (with matt on it) and it's truly terrible. the most banal compositions, the most tasteless choices and sounds. she's got no idea. please aj, don't waste money on this crap there's too much good music in the world. a lot of it's in australia. but if you're talking international women: myra melford angelica sanchez susie ibarra ikue mori

Nuts, I llike your taste in music. Come visit, that is if you haven't already!
jmac - Dave Holland, I've seen him so many times already and look, honestly he'll just be totally brilliant, which is very predictable and dull. (Why aren't you guys voting for JW? Are you still coming down in May?)
