I don't think it's boring to talk about singers we think are great! This may be because I am a singer, but I always like to check out other people's lists of 'Great _____', you never know what new treasure you may find.
My little list of people not mentioned so far, not strictly jazz Chris Connor Anita O'Day Ella Mae Morse Etta James Donny Hathaway Jill Scott Jimmy Witherspoon
I have a few local favs that have already been mentioned...
I really don't get why it's so cool to go on about how most singers are crap. I can only imagine it's a taste thing, but people always think that the things they like are the only thing that's any good. Which is boring. An open-mind is a beautiful thing and a good way to keep learning your whole life through.

Didn't mean to "bore" anyone...
as if the tiger rex conversations weren't boring!!!! and that went on for WAY too long (no offense to Dave Rex- he's great)... I was just trying to add a little positivity to this often negative forum. And yes, I'm sure it was nice for some vocalists (atleast it was for me) to read a couple of posts that didn't fit into the "why are vocalists not great" category. Thanks for those who participated in a positive way...

Jesus IG, you really are getting a lttle boring. I can't help but wonder if you can actually play at all or have any musical ideas other than disruption. It seems to me that you might just leave things that are of no interest to you and concentrate on trying to acheive something possitive in your life, which by the way may not be that long given recent behaviour.
Stevie Wonder Tom Waits Early Jacko ( michael) Nick Cave Kim sok chul ( heavy Korean stuff Simon B played me)

Oh winkles tinkles, you're so worldly. So are you threatening me or just flexing your ego a little? Either way I'm really scared, ooooooooooooooooooooo.
Look, a lttle bit of sense please. Singers use words, what are they without those words? Very little. Horn players are interesting enough without the words cluttering up the music and confusing the whole situation. Even the dick Jazz Police can realise that, singers need words to explain their music and it makes it base, thats why singers are not great.

and you are? the best, better than all the rest, better than anyone? so self righteous! a musician with an ego-centric p.o.v. such as yours could never make any music of any worth

I will add a bit of negativity here, so please forgive me...
IG... IGnoramus
I bet one day you'll get a gig with a singer (if he/she could possibly tolerate your extremely bad attitude) and it will pay the bills better than any job you've EVER had. Until then, piss off.
