I'm offended that the great man, Shooby Taylor should be compared to the likes of Callum, Jones and Krall. This is a thread about singers.
Shooby is beyond singing. Shooby is not confined to the restraints of the world. Shooby is a planet in its own orbit. Shooby is a universal language. Shooby is the zenith of self expression. Shooby breaks down cultural barriers. Shooby is the alpha and the omega. Shooby is the WMD's the Yanks couldn't find. Shooby understands all and respects all.
Those other guys just sing.

Actually, Jamie Cullen annoys me. Taking a beautiful grand and banging the krap outta it with his body parts :/ lol I dont appreciate his touch.. but I am classically trained.. so it might be that. Im very picky with my pianists Mark Sholtez.. not jazz? jeebus.. I love his voice - much more than Michael Bubbles. I remember Mark just starting and working at his modes and jazz modal harmony. Im happy for him. And he IS a quality muso. Not to mention a top guy as well. I doubt anyone would be referring to him as a "f**cking bitch" But hey.. as someone wisely wrote - if it brings in the new kids great. He'll prolly also bring in the mums and dads too Go Mark!

Krall has nothing on Phwaor-nikova, and Phwaor-nikova has nothing on.
At least conversation wouldn't get in the way with Anna, and you wouldn't have to listen to cheesy re-hashed blues licks - just her groaning.

I meant to reply last week... Saw Jamie Cullum in concert last Wednesday- missed Mark Sholtez though (oops...having drinks with friends). Jamie's gig was a lot of fun. Yes, ladylex, I understand your hestitancy about him jumping and banging on the piano (sometimes makes me nervous, not only for the owner of the piano but for Jamie himself- don't want him to fall and break something) ...BUT I think he's got talent. He might not have the best touch, but he really can play, and he's got good time. He's a great singer (I have heard him live 3 times, and he's pretty much always "on"), and I enjoy some of his originals-especially the ones he writes on guitar. AND although this isn't important to everyone (but it is to me), he is incredibly humble and a truly nice guy.

So you won't be asking Sam to leap on top of the piano at your next gig ?

You should have seen Sam last Saturday at Bennetts...he was jumping all over the piano, the stage, the audience, and dancing like a maniac... (yes, I'm kidding, but he grooved his butt off!!!! All the guys did actually- we had a blast!)

My understanding from this thread so far has been that a nice person with a humble attitude counts for not much I remain weary of Jamie Cullen. I actually heard his music BEFORE seeing his performance.. I also suspect Im not into him it becos I hate anyone grabbing a piano stool and banging the krap outta it on a grand. That kind of behaviour never impresses me. That’s pure entertainment for the great unwashed IMO. HOWEVER: his tunes are Great. Youre right – theyre charming, his vocals are always pitched (man.. youd think thats a given but in this image propelled industry - good luck! lol) and the musos he works with are just awesome. Of course he has talent – anyone who can READ a jazz chart has talent! Lol

[So youre saying you wouldnt blow out some Australian jazz festival just to do promo for the grammys and thus increase the likely chance for actual album sales? Yes, but Scott's point - regardless of any rights or wrongs - is that doing so very much makes her a media whore. if krall was a bloke would she get called a media whore? good to see sexism alive and well on OJF . why dont these women just stay in the kitchen and the bedroom when you need em. liked the 'fucking bitch too' that was impressive and imaginative
